GMOs

 

A genetically modified organism (GMO) is any organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineeringtechniques. GMOs are the source of genetically modified foods and are also widely used in scientific research and to produce goods other than food.

High-Fructose Corn Syrup

 

A high fructose corn syrup (HFCS)[alternative names 1] is corn syrup processed to convert some of its glucose into fructose. In North America, where subsidies and import tariffs have made it cheaper than sucrose (table sugar), it is often used in processed foods.
